Concert For Peace

It’s hard to come to terms with the fact that summer is over.  While it seemed to fly by in the blink of an eye, there were many moments I wished lasted much longer, one of which was the Concert for Peace organized by none other than my wife Meredith Pegula in our backyard no less.

This past year, my company, Diaper Dude, began a partnership with the amazing organization Futures Without Violence, based in San Francisco California.  For over 30 years, FWV has been providing groundbreaking programs, policies and campaigns that empower individuals working to end violence against women and children around the world.  5% of all sales from Diaper Dude supports one of FWV’s programs called Coaching Boys Into Men. As a dad of 2 boys who are athletes, this program tugged at my heartstrings.  I knew I had to be a part of it somehow.

Meredith, a singer, songwriter, actress and mother of our three children was inspired to raise money for FWV using her talents along with her peers and our daughter, Juliette.  “To be able to make a change in our world using artists is a dream come true.  I hope we can continue these concerts and bring awareness to as many people as possible.”  Meredith called on her fellow artists Mané,

Kelsy Karter,

Gareth James Hall

along with our daughter Juliette

and Juliette’s classmate Jaxon Blumenthal

who by the way just performed at the Rose Bowl opening up for Coldplay.  How cool is that?

The evening began with drinks and hors d’oeuvres by twilight with the concert starting at dusk under the stars at the Pegula home.

Original songs were performed by Meredith Pegula, Kelsy Karter, Mané and Gareth James Hall while Juliette Pegula performed Valerie by Amy Winehouse.  The evening concluded with the artists inviting the audience to join along in singing the song Give Peace A Chance by John Lennon.

Overall the evening was a huge success.  Bringing awareness to an amazing program like Coaching Boys into Men is so necessary.  Our hope is to enjoy many more evenings under the stars with friends and family raising money for a cause we all believe in.  Together we can make this world a safer place!
